Field-based activities, which rely on participatory research approaches and extension tools, are one of the main components of SFSP, as they provide the universities’ teachers with first hand experience as well as direct exposure to field realities.
The SFSP partners use farmer-centered approaches to find more sustainable ways to manage forests and sloping land. The results of the field-based activities feed the teaching process of the 5 universities.
The field-based activities consist of:
- Participatory Technology Development (PTD)
- Other participatory research
- Forest Management Learning Group (FMLG) and other extension-related activities
An overview of the field-based activities of all WPIs is available. In order to support the partners in their field-based activities, SFSP organises workshops and training courses on a regular basis.
